NeuroAffective Touch®

1 hour session

Folkestone.

My bodywork practices have been honed over many years since the early 1990s.  I’ve been fascinated by shiatsu and the mechanics of the body, training in various bodywork and somatic practices.  Currently, I’m particularly focused on bridging the body-mind divide.

I’m currently deepening my practice and training with NeuroAffective Touch® under the guidance of the founder, Dr Aline LaPierre.  This therapeutic practice bridges body-mind integration through touch.  Touch shapes our earliest experiences and attuned, caring touch is crucial for brain development and emotional and cognitive maturation.  As Dr LaPierre says, “Touch defines our sense of reality; we are always touching something.”

NeuroAffective Touch® aims to heal the relational matrix. It’s a polyvagal-informed somatic approach combining relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy with touch and bodywork. This method addresses emotional, relational and cognitive developmental deficits beyond verbal therapy.

Sessions may also include heated and weighted pillows. These pillows, specifically designed for NeuroAffective Touch®, mould to support the body, awakening touch receptors and energising the body-mind connection.

While NeuroAffective Touch® is most commonly practised on a massage table with a memory foam mattress, it can also be done sitting up with chair support.
